Professional Experience
Joseph "Joe" Harris is an IT professional with 30+ years of experience helping individuals and organizations use technology securely, reliably, and effectively. His career includes senior technical and systems administration roles with Life Fitness, First Midwest Bank, IBM, and AT&T.
Joe's expertise spans computer hardware and software, networking, cybersecurity, system administration, disaster recovery, cloud infrastructure, and operational reliability. He has administered enterprise environments using IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, Linux, OS/2, and Windows, and his cloud experience includes AT&T Integrated Cloud, AT&T Network Cloud, Microsoft Azure Operator Nexus, Ericsson Cloud RAN, and Nokia CloudBand. Throughout his career, he has supported complex infrastructure, led technical deployments, trained users and administrators, and translated difficult technology issues into practical solutions.
Through My Smart IT Guy, Joe provides individuals and small businesses with dependable, straightforward technology support. He takes time to understand each client's needs, explain options in plain language, and recommend practical, appropriate solutions. His approach is built on responsiveness, trust, and long-term client relationships.
Joe is continuing his college education in computer cybersecurity, building on decades of hands-on experience and strengthening the security expertise he brings to his clients. Outside of technology, he is a father of four and grandfather of two who enjoys computer gaming, model railroading, and restoring a 1980 Corvette. He also volunteers with Mercy Full Project as a foster and meet-and-greet volunteer, helping connect dogs and cats with their forever homes.
